Flowers Wedding

I have put together my top tips to ensure that you pick the flowers in the right season for the perfect wedding.

Spring flowers
Bulb flowers such as Narcissus hybrids, daffodils, tulips and hyacinth are in season.

Summer Flowers
Summer is a time of abundance for flowers, with all colours and shapes available. Similarly cottage-garden in appearance are sweet pea and sun flowers. More exotic summer flowers include foxtail lily and the bright sky-blues of agapanthus and hydrangea.

Autumn Flower
Autumn brings the rich colours of dahlia, gladiolus, late sunflowers, and red hot poker.

Winter Flowers

Winter is not a barren, bleak time for flowers - as well as flowers available all year round (see below) there are early bulb flowers like hyacinth, tulip, narcissus, and hellebore; southern hemisphere exotics such as protea, kangaroo paw and euphorbia fulgens and not forgetting poinsettia; as well as foliages including hollyberry add much-needed colour.

All year round Flowers

Many flowers and foliages are now available all year round. Typical all year round flowers include carnation, gerbera, iris, lily and rose with orchids and birds of paradise being a little more tropical.

What flowers will I need?
You will need your flowers which will be bouquets for the bride and bridesmaids, button holes for the groom, father of the bride and groom, best man, and flowers for the mother of the bride and groom.

Wedding Reception

Every bride dreams of having a special wedding celebration, it’s the definition of special that may vary from bride to bride. The big challenge for me was; what was my personal wedding style? I had little other wedding planning ideas past these, but these I was sure of.

1. Tear Sheets

Congrats! Now run immediately to your favorite newsstand and buy every bridal magazine! WAIT! I suggest buying two bridal mags to get a read on what the trends are in the wedding industry. Are brides going for traditional gowns? Scour the two magazines you choose for whatever peeks your interest and then tear, tear, tear! Tear out the pictures and advice that speak to you and along with the pages that you favored from the bridal mags and lifestyle publications begin a wedding production binder.

2. Book your locations

While you are mulling the images and ideas over and over in your mind, begin making appointments with ceremony and reception locations. Is the décor shabby-chic just like your favorite catalogue?

3. Invitations & Dress

Not many wedding planners would likely group together two such major event aspects like stationary and wardrobe, but for style purposes – they work well together. Keep in mind that both areas will complement the style of your wedding but are typically considered separate areas of the event. For one, the invitation and dress set the tone of the event. By choosing the best wedding stationary and wedding gown, you can bring together all of the aspects of your wedding style that you have selected. If your décor is a sleek and modern white wedding staged outside under a tent of glowing Chinese lanterns, your perfect invitation, menu and escort card could be printed on delicate rice paper featuring the Chinese ideogram for love. Pulling off your wedding style is as simple as minding your details and keeping in mind that every decision is an opportunity to make a statement.

4. Food, Drink, Tunes & Favors

The final details to incorporate into your fabulous event are the guest’s favorite! Your dress is a simple silk bias cut sheath, with a gorgeous cowl neck accented with a designer flat thong. As your loved ones depart they can take with them his and hers flip flops in the colors of your wedding, wrapped in a beach towel monogrammed with your wedding date and a message of thanks! Sure, the websites and magazine might suggest favors for a wedding being hosted at a country club, but those favors wouldn’t incorporate the feel of your event. Shells and candles are easily obtainable at craft stores such as Michaels. Another cute centerpiece idea for a beach wedding is a aluminum sand pail with shovels filled to the brim with garden roses according to your colors. I hope my approach to wedding planning has given you a decent jumping off point. There are a few more areas to tackle, like wedding party plans and transportation.

Cherry Blossom Festival

Although no one can predict exactly when, every spring thousands of Tokyo inhabitants will flock to their public parks to enjoy "hanami", the viewing of the cherry blossoms. The most popular of the city's Cherry Blossom Festivals is at Ueno Park. History of the Cherry Blossom Festival.

The Cherry Blossom Festival has its roots in the ninth century, when Japanese nobility had the first formal flower viewing at the Shinsen-en garden in Kyoto. The Japanese listen intently to the reports from the Meteorological Agency as the cherry blossoms begin opening in Okinawa each January. Families, friends, and even groups of workers in every part of Tokyo will head for the blossom-shrouded public spaces, spread out their picnic blankets, and enjoy the return of spring beneath the gently falling blossoms, which symbolize for them the fleetingness of life.

For those who would prefer to enjoy the ephemeral beauty of the blossoms in more contemplative surroundings, the Meguro River Cherry Blossom Festival, only six miles to the west of Tokyo Station, offers an evening stroll beneath the lantern-lit trees at the river's edge.

Where to Stay during a Visit to the Cherry Blossom Festival

Located in Tokyo's central Taitoku district, the four-star Hotel Sunroute Asakusa Tokyo is a modern facility within two kilometres of Ueno Park.

Wedding Flowers

Sakura flower wedding –

Amidst dresses, tuxedos, guest lists, invitations, receptions, and locations for the actual ceremony, choosing the right wedding flowers can be one of the most important decisions. With a little work, and the help of a good wedding florist, it's easy to get flowers that will be both memorable and reflect the personality of those in the wedding. While the process of selecting flowers can seem a bit overwhelming, if you keep a few things in mind it can help to save you time and, more importantly, money.

Keep the date in mind
Keeping the date of your wedding in mind is key to selecting your flowers. Spring and summer are ideal for using flowers like orchids, hydrangeas, roses, and lilies, while autumn and winter are better suited to roses, lilies, narcissus, gardenia, mums and poinsettias .Just remember, you won't be able to find all the flowers you want year round.

Set your budget early
Figure out your budget, be upfront with your florist, and from there you can figure out what flowers you like the most and what is available during the time of the year you're getting married. Don't wait until the last minute to order your flowers.

Match your colors
"White is always most popular for brides. Sharon Mayer of Vogue Flowers in Richmond, Virginia said when asked about the current trends in flower colors. Picking out the right color really depends on the themes and colors you've picked out for your invitations, cake, etc. and whether you want to match the dominant color or accent it with something else.

Location is important
When picking the flowers that are right for your wedding, it's a good idea to keep in mind where the wedding will be held. If the wedding is going to be outside, floral arches, columns, blooming plants and garden flowers are a great way to add a nice touch to the wedding. Beach weddings can be enhanced by simple flowers with bright colors or exotic and unique flowers that really complement the beach setting.

Pick the type that's right for you

Orchids, tulips, hydrangeas, daffodils, and even more exotic and unique flowers are making their way into weddings everywhere. With a variety of colors and shapes, orchids have quickly become a highly popular flower for everything from centerpieces and bridal bouquets to the corsages and boutonnieres.

There's nothing wrong with trading out the white rose for a purple orchid if it matches your wedding better.
